giving it my all

giving it my all is a sculpture/installation exploring themes of motherhood and self-sacrifice. Using a combination of clay and wax, I aim to make visual a felt-sense-experience of shifting states of identity. Pink-glazed lumps of clay were first thrown and dropped onto wooden boards on the floor. Through experiments in physical force and gravity, I developed folds and impressions in the clay body. The striations in the clay come to resemble wrinkles in flesh. Positioned on and amongst bisque-fired plates holding pools of melted wax, this work aims to reflect the changing states of matter – self dissolving into other.
